The Shipley School, founded in 1894, is a co-educational, college preparatory, independent day school currently enrolling 835 students in grades Pre-K through 12. Position Purpose: The Shipley School seeks qualified candidates for Classroom Proctors to support our increased safety programs across our campus.


Major Responsibilities:

  • Supervise students in lunchrooms, classrooms or other spaces in order to maintain appropriate observation of students and that all are following CDC/DOE guidelines for safe interaction.
  • Record attendance.
  • Assist students with minor troubleshooting efforts in the classroom when possible.
  • Assist with screening, monitoring, and contact tracing procedures for COVID-19.
  • Uphold school behavior policies and cultural expectations.
  • Maintain a safe environment for students and colleagues which may include sanitizing classroom surfaces and other duties that are expected of all other colleagues.



The successful candidate will have...

  • Ability to care for children across a wide range of school ages and empathy for the developmental needs of students.
  • Experience using Microsoft applications.
  • Strong ability to multi-task, complete assignments and keep to a schedule
  • Have flexibility in early morning (7am) arrival.
  • Working in an active environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of interactions.
  • May work at a desk and computer for extended periods.
  • Be able to occasionally lift to 30 lbs.
