Position Purpose: The Associate Teacher is responsible for assisting the implementation of the daily program under the direction of the lead teacher. This is a one year contract position, with no guarantee or promise of employment beyond the terms of the contract.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist in planning and implementing curriculum
  • Assist in managing the classroom
  • Instruct children in small group activities
  • Provide individualized support during instructional times
  • Maintain a professional stance with students and parents and follow the classroom teacher's lead in all discussions relating to students
  • Supervise outside playground activities
  • Supervise the classroom when the teacher is out of the room
  • Assist with general housekeeping and classroom tasks, preparing materials as needed, and supporting technology needs
  • Attend staff meetings and recommended professional development
  • Participate in the morning, lunch/recess and afternoon duties as needed

Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree required
  • Experience working in an educational setting (elementary level preferred)
  • Ability to work collaboratively to enhance curriculum, program, and community
  • Strong verbal skills with students, colleagues, and parents
  • Strong ability to multi-task, complete assignments and keep to a schedule
  • Commitment to professional development and best practices in education
